Read how the ILFM scholarship is helping professionals reach their potential in the legal finance industry

  • Posted

Pascal Brass, a Controller in a global law firm, has been selected for a scholarship funded by Iceberg, which will allow him to study for an ILFM Diploma qualification.

Pascal currently manages working capital and financial operations for three of the firm’s international offices across EMEA/APAC and before joining his current firm, he spent a number of years as a Revenue Controller.

Despite the wealth of experience that Pascal holds, he was keen to further his industry knowledge and impressed both the ILFM and Iceberg with his drive to make advancements in his career.

Pascal commented: “My goal is to become a well-rounded finance professional within the legal sector. The lack of specific training available brought me directly to ILFM as they are able to offer tailored training and certifications for the legal finance and management world.

“Considering I am not a native English speaker, I found the study material engaging and easy to follow.”

Tim Kidd, Chief Executive of the ILFM, said: “Pascal is currently studying towards ILFM’s ‘Legal Cashier’ qualification and is currently completing the part one of the diploma, which covers accounting in the legal world.”

“This will open up the opportunity for him to gain further responsibility in his role and take all financial operations and accounting tasks for his firm fully in-house to London.”

Michael Stevenson, Managing Director of Iceberg, said: “The sponsorship is all about encouraging professionals to continually learn in order to advance their careers.

“Through Iceberg sponsoring this scholarship, it allows individuals like Pascal to thrive and reach their full potential in the industry.”

The not-for-profit ILFM is the UK’s leading membership organisation in the legal sector that provides a range of services and professional courses designed exclusively for legal finance professionals and legal management professionals including legal cashiers, accounts managers and compliance officers for finance and administration.

Iceberg provides unsecured loans to law firms towards partners’ tax, professional indemnity insurance and capital expenditure along with litigation finance for their divorce and probate clients.

Anyone interested in applying for a scholarship with the ILFM, should visit the ILFM scholarships web page for more details at www.ilfm.org.uk/site/qualifications/scholarships.
