Simon Harbord

Simon joined Team Teal in October 2020, having worked in the legal sector at a Top 100 law firm since 2004. Prior to this, he held Compliance Officer and MLRO roles within the financial services sector and, before moving into compliance, worked as a financial planner and mortgage adviser.

While his roles have encompassed a wide range of responsibilities, including ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations, maintaining Lexcel accreditation, and improving processes and procedures, Simon’s particular passion has always been anti-money laundering (AML). His experience includes client onboarding, auditing, training delivery (including on behalf of the Law Society at regional MLRO meetings), advising colleagues on AML and POCA obligations, handling Suspicious Activity Reports, and liaising with law enforcement agencies. He brings a wealth of practical experience and a down-to-earth approach to providing advice and guidance.

Simon also has considerable experience in obtaining regulatory authorisations, managing SRA and FCA supervision visits and investigations, and dealing with Ombudsmen across both the legal and financial services sectors.

Alongside his commitments with Team Teal, Simon is also an Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) trainer, where he shares his extensive knowledge and real-world experience with legal finance and compliance professionals.
