Simon Smith
About Simon
Simon was an equity partner for 30 years and the Managing Partner of 2 regional law firms during an 18 year career in law firm management. He has also performed consultancy, training and assessment work, including many years working with international candidates in the banking and wealth management sector.
Simon has been in demand as a Non-Executive Director and brings this wider experience to his role as a tutor with the ILFM. Various roles have included: Chair of The Audit and Risk Committee, and Advisory Board Member at the UK Immigration Advice Authority; Chair of the Joint Audit Committee of Cambridgeshire Constabulary and The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner; Board Vice Chair and Governance Chair at Freebridge Community Housing; Standards Committee member, Leicester City Council; Joint Audit Committee Member at Norfolk Constabulary, and for the OPCC.
Having benefitted from management training with Prof. Martin Read and others (when hopefully at least a bit rubbed off!) Simon is passionate about everyone having the opportunity to become the best they can be. He is very pleased to be an ILFM tutor.
When not working, Simon is a keen walker, bird watcher, and a Mercedes Benz classic car enthusiast regularly to be found under the bonnet of fellow enthusiast’s cars!
