The ILFM announces that Karen Edwards joins as the Head of Professional Development
The Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) announced on Wednesday 22 February 2023 the appointment of Karen Edwards as the new Head of Professional Development. She has been appointed with effect from 3 April 2023.
The announcement comes as the ILFM grows its Senior Leadership Team and reshuffles the ILFM Council that supports the professional body. Tim Kidd, Chief Executive and Elaine Pasini, Head of Communications will work together with Karen to continue to raise industry standards for legal finance, legal support teams, and law firm management staff professionals.
Karen comes with a wealth of experience and an extensive list of qualifications, including:
- Law Degree, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (qualifying in 2010)
- Certificate in Business Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- ILFM Diploma
It is an absolute pleasure to grow our Leadership Team with Karen, and we look forward to a busy year ahead. Karen comes with a wealth of experience in law, finance and compliance. She qualified as a lawyer through CILEX in 2010, after obtaining her law degree in 2005; Karen specialises in legal finance, compliance and operational requirements (having been appointed both COLP and COFA), with extensive knowledge in legal technology and software development.
She leaves her role as Director of Oxfordshire-based Law Firm, Hedges, having been instrumental within the firm to push towards it becoming employee-owned in 2021. Karen and her co-Directors were progressive in their stance for working on the employee-owned law firm business model by researching effectively the positive impact on wellbeing and engagement for all staff and clients.
