Solicitors Regulation Authority

Jatinderpal Loyal, Policy Associate, & Sean Hankin, Head of Forensic Investigation and Intelligence.

Matt Messias

Matt is one of those rare, highly qualified professionals who leads by example.

Matt has developed a culture of principle-centred leadership within all the organisations in which he has worked. This has resulted in staff taking responsibility for results, using their initiative, having a clear vision and strategy, remaining consistently aligned with priorities, and developing positive working relationships with all stakeholders.

As a Premier League and International Football Referee, Matt was constantly under the microscope of the international media, and therefore was required to make crucial, immediate decisions under immense pressure.  He was not only an elite athlete, he was managing a multi-million-pound business during every game.  Managing conflict and stress, communicating decisions effectively to an audience of millions and making spontaneous split-second judgement calls whilst exuding an aura of calm were all part of the job.

Simon McCrum

Simon qualified as a Commercial Litigation solicitor in 1990 at Pannone. He then moved into a marketing and management role, leading various teams and becoming Marketing Partner, Director of Business Development, and part of the Management Team.
In 2007, Simon became Managing Partner at Darbys Solicitors. The firm made a trading loss in 2007 but had its most successful year ever in 2010 and in 2013 it was the country's fastest-growing law firm.
In 2016, Darbys was acquired by Knights and Simon exited to form McCrum Consulting, a management consultancy for law firms. He now works with law firms to help them to do the things he did right, and to avoid the things that he did wrong, all within a model which he calls The Perfect Legal Business and which brings profit-rich and cash-rich growth, quickly.
Simon has just published his first book, “The Perfect Legal Business” – which can be accessed via
