Samantha Griffin FILFM

Professional Development Manager

I’m delighted to have joined the Institute as Professional Development Manager.  My career in legal finance began as a trainee legal cashier and most recently led me to the role of legal finance supervisor at a local law firm.  Along the way, I became a Fellow of the Institute and developed strong technical experience in the SRA Accounts Rules, VAT, AML and wider compliance, as well as supporting the firm with policy updates and operational processes.

I’ve always taken pride in being a reliable source of guidance for colleagues. Accuracy, integrity and a practical approach have shaped the way I work, and I understand the real pressures and responsibilities that legal finance professionals face every day. I also know how important confidence and clarity are in roles that carry significant regulatory responsibility.

Supporting and developing others is something I’m genuinely passionate about. I’ve mentored colleagues through their ILFM studies, delivered internal training and helped bring new finance staff on board. Helping people grow in their roles is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

In my role here, I’ll be championing legal cashiers and support teams, engaging with members and firms, contributing to qualifications and CPD, and helping the Institute respond to regulatory developments.

I’m excited to be part of the team and look forward to bringing my experience, energy and enthusiasm to the Institute and its members.

Outside of work, I value spending quality time with friends and family. I enjoy long walks in the countryside or along the coast and I have a passion for baking - including creating my Dad's wedding cake.
