Welcome to Samantha, our new professional development manager.

  • Posted

A warm welcome to Samantha Griffin joins us this month as our new professional development manager, strengthening our commitment to supporting, educating and championing professionals working in legal finance across the UK.

Samantha has enjoyed many years of practical financial experience in law firms, most recently as legal finance supervisor at Furley Page LLP. She has demonstrated her technical capability and dedication to continuous professional development by her career progression from trainee legal cashier to supervisor. A fellow of the Institute, Samantha brings to her new role a strong working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules, VAT, AML and wider compliance frameworks, along with extensive experience of supporting law firms with policy updates and operational processes.

As a student, Samantha won many awards and has consistently demonstrated academic excellence. She was widely recognised within her firm as a trusted source of technical guidance and was valued for her accuracy, integrity and practical approach to solving problems.

This experience of the real world is invaluable to our members: Samantha understands the day-to-day pressures and responsibilities, as well as the importance of getting things right. She also understands the human side of the profession: the need for confidence, clarity and support in roles that carry significant responsibility for regulation.

One of Samantha’s greatest strengths is her passion for supporting and developing others. She has supported colleagues as they studied for their ILFM qualifications, delivered internal training on the Accounts Rules and played a key role in bringing new finance staff on board.

The Institute has a mission to promote high standards, confidence and competence across the profession and Samantha’s commitment to empowering others fits perfectly with that mission.

In her new role, Samantha will work closely with the Chief Executive and professional development team to:

•  Champion the vital role of legal cashiers and support teams;

•  Support members and engage with firms, COFAs and partners in the sector;

•  Contribute to the Institute’s qualifications, examinations and CPD content;

•  Help shape the Institute’s response to regulatory developments.

Samantha’s blend of technical expertise, sector awareness and genuine enthusiasm for professional development will be a valuable asset to our members and the wider legal finance community. We are delighted to welcome her to the Institute and look forward to enjoying the insight, energy and leadership she will bring to the role.
