Remote Invigilation

All Diploma and Fellowship Level exams are taken via remote invigilation which will enable students to take an exam at home while being continuously monitored by an offsite invigilator. To ensure that remote invigilation exams run successfully, students will need the equipment required to meet technical specifications.

Please note that we advise all students to check with their employer before booking an exam, in case they have particular policies and approaches already in place, and to agree the timing of the exam.

The exam platform for November 2026 is to be Cirrus, the key requirements are:

A reliable computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone which meets the minimum technical requirements
A quiet room with a closed door (no one else is permitted in the room while you are testing)
A clear workspace
A strong internet connection (wifi drops or slow connection are not our responsibility)
You will need the latest version of Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome downloaded as your browser.
Depending on whether you are using Chrome or Edge as your browser you will need to install one of the following to enable the invigilation and to sit your exam. The invigilation is run by Proctorio.

Software requirements

Under the GDPR, it is your responsibility to ensure you access the Cirrus Platform using supported software with security updates applied.

Browser Check for Candidates - Cirrus offers candidates a browser check on the introduction page of their exam.

Schedule your exam

ALL students, whatever package you are on, need to register for the exam before the closing date. You also need to be a fully paid member in order to sit the exam.

Set up

On the day of your exam login at the registration time. Make sure your exam area is clear.

Should you experience an issue during your exam, you must report this on the day of your exam. If there are connection issues please contact the invigilator. If you feel the issue you experienced has impacted your exam performance or you feel that your result has been adversely affected, please apply for special consideration directly to ILFM within 10 days of your exam.

Results

You will receive your results by email within 6-8 weeks of the exam.
