Legal Cashier Day receives support from SRA CEO, Sarah Rapson

  • Posted

The ILFM is delighted to mark the first Legal Cashier Day today, Friday 22 May 2026, with the support of Sarah Rapson, Chief Executive of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Legal Cashier Day has been created to recognise the vital contribution legal cashiers make to law firms and the wider legal profession. Their work is central to the protection of client money, the smooth running of practices and the maintenance of high standards in legal finance and compliance.

In support of the day, Sarah Rapson, CEO of the SRA, said:

“I am pleased to mark the first Legal Cashiers Day by recognising and thanking legal cashiers for the important role they play in safeguarding clients and supporting confidence in the legal profession. They underpin the smooth running of firms through their expertise in the SRA Accounts Rules. This, and their diligence in ensuring compliance, are fundamental to protecting client money and maintaining trust in legal services, enhancing the strength, resilience and reputation of the UK’s legal system.”

The ILFM has long championed the professionalism, knowledge and responsibility of legal cashiers and legal finance teams. While much of this work takes place behind the scenes, its impact is felt across every law firm, from day to day financial management to regulatory compliance and client protection.

Legal Cashier Day is an important opportunity to bring that expertise into the spotlight and to encourage firms to recognise the people who help keep their practices operating securely, responsibly and effectively.

We are proud to support this first Legal Cashier Day and would like to thank every legal cashier and legal finance professional for the role they play in upholding standards across the profession.

Legal cashiers, firms and colleagues are encouraged to share their celebrations on social media using #LegalCashierDay and #legalcashier. You can also tag a legal cashier in your firm to recognise the contribution they make. Find out more: https://legalcashierday.co.uk/
